It is Quebec's fourth-largest city and home to some of the province's best museums, such as the Canadian Children's Museum, and the Canadian Museum of History. Gatineau also features a few amazing parks such as Gatineau Park and Jacques Cartier Park. The city derives its name from the river, which itself was named for Nicolas Gatineau, a fur trader who reportedly drowned in its waters about 1683.
